The History of Calvary Chapel
In 1965, Pastor Chuck Smith began ministering at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in California with a small congregation of just 25 people. Through clear Bible teaching and a welcoming heart, the church reached people from all walks of life, including a generation of young people searching for hope and truth.

Our Story in Kapolei
Before planting Calvary Chapel Kapolei, Pastor Joe Nauta spent 10 years being discipled under Pastor Ron Hindt at Calvary Chapel Houston.
He then answered the Lord’s calling to serve as Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Guam, where he faithfully shepherded the congregation for 10 years.
Following his time in Guam, the Lord led Pastor Joe back to Houston, Texas, where he served for a short season.
Through God’s providence and divine orchestration, the Lord lead Pastor Joe to Hawaii, and it is here where he felt the call to once again start a new work and plant Calvary Chapel Kapolei.
Pastor Joe & his wife Jen and family, along with other supportive believers who felt the call as well, launched out in faith, where they now serve with a heart to faithfully teach God’s Word, love His people, make disciples, and share Aloha Jesus Way!
Today, our vision remains simple:
Knowing Him & Making Him Known.
We seek to Worship the Lord, Preach the Word, Love the People, and Reach the Lost.
