What We Believe

Statements of Faith

Calvary Chapel Kapolei is a fellowship of believers focused on a personal relationship with God through worship, prayer, and the teaching of the Word of God. We teach both expositionally and topically. Join us as we start our journey to teach, verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book through the entire Bible.

  • WE BELIEVE all Scripture, Old and New Testament, "is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16

  • WE BELIEVE in the trinity - one God eternally existent in three separate persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

  • WE BELIEVE the great commandment “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39

  • WE BELIEVE the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ's ("agape") love, which is greater than any differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians. "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three, but the greatest of these is LOVE." 1 Corinthians 13:13 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35

  • WE BELIEVE worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship. "Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker." Psalms 95:6

  • WE BELIEVE worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give great place to music in our worship. "Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name." Psalms 30:4

  • WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, John 10:33. That He was born of a virgin. Matthew 1:23. Lived a sinless life. Hebrews 4:15. Performed miracles. John 2:11. Provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious death on the cross. Ephesians 1:7. His resurrection. I Corinthians 15:3,4. His ascension to the right hand of the Father. Mark 16:19. He is returning to earth in power and glory. Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16.

  • WE BELIEVE that all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, by God's grace and faith alone we are saved. Redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit. All his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God destined to spend eternity with the Lord. John 3:16-19, 5:24; Romans 3:23, 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5

  • WE BELIEVE in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures, and that they are valid for today if they are exercised within the scriptural guidelines. We as believers are to covet the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless. 1 Corinthians 13:2 "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts." 1 Corinthians 14:1. "Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing." Thessalonians 5:11

  • WE BELIEVE the Great Commission, we are to Make Disciples "go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28: 19,20

  • WE BELIEVE that church government should be simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy, and we depend on the Holy Spirit to lead, rather than on fleshly promotion.

  • WE SEEK to teach the Word of God in such a way that its message can be applied to an individual's life, leading that person to greater maturity in Christ.
